Reverend Scott Wilks is an East Tennessee native and graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport. Tennessee. After graduation and a few semesters at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Scott entered the United States Army where he served for ten years. His duty stations included Fort Knox, Ansbach Germany, Fort Stewart Georgia, and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Settling in Knoxville after his military service, Scott worked in the Knoxville area before entering into the ministry in 2002. He completed his studies at Hiwassee College and Tennessee Wesleyan College before attending Emory University in Atlanta where he received a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology.
Scott loves to travel and his family has been in several island countries in the Caribbean. In 2011, he traveled to England on a Wesleyan Pilgrimage where he visited many of the sites associated with early Methodism.
Scott comes to Mountain City with his wife, Donna who is an oncology nurse working in Boone, and his daughters Abbey and Mara who will be juniors at Johnson County High School in the Fall. Abbey and Mara will be joining the Longhorn Marching Band this summer. Also joining the family are two cats, two dogs, four lizards, and four frogs.
Scott’s interests in ministry are worship and music, parish ministries, and communications through social media.
